About Us

Hi, I’m Laceye, I'm the daughter…

I’m a baker, a crafter, a reader, a Christian, a natural blonde, a sushi lover and a bit strange at times.
I hale from a small town in Wisconsin where I collected my many talents from my mother. I brought them with me across the country to Southern California, where I currently reside with my wonderful husband Jordan.
I most love to be whipping something up in the kitchen, in the sand on one of California’s many beautiful beaches, hanging with friends, or on the couch watching a movie with J.

Hi, I’m Shelley. I’m the mother…

The thing I like most to do is create.  I create food, gardens, quilts and just about anything I can imagine.  If you think "outside the box", your box has no limits!
As for baking . . . well it is in our blood.  I come from a long line of baking women. As soon as I could hold a spoon and stir, I spent hours each week with my mom, baking bread, cakes, pies, cookies and cooking what have you, to feed our big family. When I say "family", this means not just our family of 7 but ALL the family. Growing up with 39 first cousins alone (that's just the kids!) and seeing at least 1/4 of them every week was just a part of life. I don't know if anyone else of German decent had this thing called "lunch" before everyone went home from their visit, but we did. This is the meal you serve everyone at about 9 p.m. (you served them supper at 5!) to send them home well fed and happy.  Needless to say there was always A LOT of food involved!
The best part for me were the desserts, and they are still my favorite, to eat and to make.  I love nothing better than to hear someone's . . . mmmmmm  that's soooo good!
I live in Wisconsin ( I love the snow!) with my husband and youngest daughter.  My oldest you met above, and my son (who's first words every morning after he could speak were "eat, eat"!) lives in sunny California too.
Along with the food and family, came the wonderful memories and stories told by the old and the young.  I hope you will enjoy our blog and some of those stories and memories too.
.

. . . Like mother, like daughter, and what we like is to bake! And cook. And craft. And talk. And share our knowledge with others.  So we thought we’d share our kitchen/life adventures with you, and even post some useful tips along the way!
